Some Bad Ass Kids
At some point, we all laugh at the “Get Off My Lawn” phase of life and as a GenXer, my peers are arthritic knees deep in it. I sometimes catch myself mid-thought when I find I am complaining about modern societal changes and annoyances with the younger generations.
I remember there is nothing new under the sun. Same game. New players.
When my peers lament about these kids doing stupid things and claim we didn’t in our younger years, I must remind them, yes, we most certainly did! The only difference is we didn’t have social media platforms with which to share our shenanigans with millions of people we didn’t know. And yes, I believe if social media was around then we would have been just as reckless with our postings because our frontal lobes had not fully developed.
But alas, so much of what we did is lost to aging memories and will go with us to the grave, thankfully. There are some things that will go down in the annals of my childhood history that surely prompted the adults in our orbit to say we were some “bad ass kids”.
